Clay Dove Tutorial
Buy some air dry clay from your local craft store, or dig some real clay up from someone's back yard (I have tons laying around if you want any, or use this recipe to make your own awesome air dry clay using cornstarch, water and and baking soda)
Break off a small piece of the clay and make a ball
Break off a small piece of the clay and make a ball
Flatten the ball slightly and pinch the back a little-that is the beginning of a tail
Make a beak by pinching the other end
Flatten it out a bit more and shape to look more like a bird
Once you got the shape you like, use water to smooth out your dove and shape it further. We are going for the rustic look so you don't need too many details.
Poke a hole using a straw. Do this step while it is still wet.
Taking clay stamper, stamp different names of Christ in them.
Let them air dry for a day or two depending on the humidity of where you live, flipping them over once. Be careful, these will break like glass if dropped.
Once they are dry put twine through the hole, tie it and hang them on the tree.
